Happy Monday, friend. As I throw myself back into writing here on the blog I want it to be something of value for you.
After all, I’m a wife and a mom and more than likely you are one of those or both as well. I know how busy we all are and time is a hot commodity we just can’t afford to waste. We’re probably too dang tired to even want to.
What I do know for sure is that I want you to come here knowing you’ll find some sort of encouragement and inspiration. That’s something I know we all need more of.
Along with my original fine art, I also love to doodle, hand letter and paint illustrations. Honestly y’all, anything I can create I just love. That’s one reason why I also do decorative faux painting here locally in Memphis.
I’m not a believer that an artist can only be known for one thing or must stick to one form of art. An artist is a creator and a creator will create in anyway she can or wants. In one of my favorite books for creatives, An Artist’s Way, Julia Cameron recommends using another creative outlet if your stuck or blocked in one area. We just need to those creative muscles.
This week Jaime and I are busy painting cabinets and doing some decorative painting on a couple pieces of furniture. I won’t get much time to stand in front of my easel with my brush, but being able to be artistic in some form and get paint on my cloths is exactly where I need to be.
Today I want to give away a FREE print. I want to remind you that YOU are here to be light bringing out the God-colors in the world. I love this version of Matthew 5 from the Message.
I had a grandmother commission me to do this illustration for her new grand-daughters nursery. What a great reminder to see every day! If you want your own print, just click the button and I’ll send it to your email. You can download it to your computer or phone and use it as a wallpaper or print it out and set it on your bathroom or kitchen counter as a reminder to yourself. Or you can gift it to a friend.
Just enjoy!
xx,
Melissa
